Yukon

From Dawson Creek to Fort St. John there was not much to see, but after there we saw tons of wildlife, as in this sheep.

These are caribou. They look like baby moose as their snouts are quite large.

We stopped for lunch at Toad River, Mile 422 where Carol mushed Mocha. Mandy wanted to see Carols new glasses, so have a close look.

I told these gals we don't give rides. This is probably the first time I've seen Hutterites. Oh no! I've made a graven image.

When I said tons of wildlife, I wasn't kidding. This is just part of the group.

Here's a baby.

I named this one Tasty.

Also we've seen many modes of camping equipment. I've seen the bike trailers before but never one this large, and folds so tiny.

Also there were many wierd RV's they brought over from Europe. This ones a Fiat from Austria. We have seen quite a few.

We made it to Liard River Hot Springs.

These are very famous natural hotsprings. There is a long boardwalk going to the water. At one end it is too hot to get into and cools off the further it goes down stream. We met a couple from New Mexico, and they invited us to their place, so put that on our southern agenda.

As you can tell the waterfall was my favourite. It was a good warm back massage. For night tonight we are in Teslin Yukon, right by the lake. Tomorrow is a two hour drive to Whitehorse to visit Peter Harms.

Fort Nelson

We stayed in Dawson Creek for 3 days with James and Doris, and Monday headed north. Here is Fort St.John area.

Here we are in Fort Nelson. It's like the prairies here, totally flat. It's funny that it gets dark at 10:30 here. See what further north will bring us. Next we are headed to Liard River Hotsprings.

We met people from all over the world. This RV was from Austria, Carol met a couple from Australia that are travelling for 6 months, and I met a couple from Holland, just heading to the Okanogan from Alaska.

Barkerville

Another view of Horse Lake. We will definately have to come back here.
Here's Carol chopping the evenings firewood, for our last night here.

This duck kept walking around our chairs looking for handouts. She quickly left when Carol brought out the axe.

On Thursday we left for Likely to visit friends. They are so far in the boonies, they don't have hydro or phone, so we just had to drive out. We found out they moved. We were three quarter way to Barkerville (the back way), so we headed there for night.

This is what the road and scenery look like taking the back way. Good to do once in your life and never again. We had dust everywhere.

We went to Barkerville for night (Wells). Carol went into Barkerville in the morning, and I went to the river to pan for gold. Just small flakes, but I can say I struck gold at Barkerville.

After 150 Mile house, (where we turned off to Likely), there are no gas stations. When we got to Wells, just out of Barkerville, the gas station was redoing their inground tanks and had no diesel. We headed west to Quesnel and arrived on fumes. We just got into Dawson Creek for the night. Mile 0 RV Park has WiFi so we can get caught up on emails and everything. Doris should be arriving tonight from the coast, so we can get together with them tomorrow. We missed Fred and Arlie Hall by a day, as they were up here visiting.

North to Alaska

Well, we're finally off to Alaska. Here we are at 100 Mile, at Horse Lake. It's a beautiful RV site right on the lake. Out in the boonies, with wi fi and cell service. What more could you ask for? Carol would like to stay right here, so we have booked two nights to at least enjoy it. James and Doris were down visiting, so we can't beat them back to their place.

Just before we left Abbotsford, we caught the moon rising over Mt Baker, from Gervais patio. I guess that's it for the Abbotsford Campground, as the machines were working around us, getting ready to build a shopping centre. Next week it will be history and no more camping in Abbotsford, as also Heritage Valley is closed. The closest is Aldergrove or Chilliwack.

Being in the Valley let us visit with the Coastal Grandkids, here at Cultus Lake. (Lexi, Caleb and Lincoln). Next is a parting shot.

Me like chocolate icecream? ------- Why "YES I DO!"

Cultus

We made it back to the Valley and met the kids and grands kids at the July 1st parade in Abbotsford. We brought the sunshine with us. We had breakfast at A&W where Carol met Della. We are staying at Cultus Lake for the next two weeks and decide from there where to go. We have to wait for James and Doris to come down before we leave. We have a few loose end to clean up like our last shots before the cruise.
