Okanagan

Carol went for a last put at the mini golf before leaving Leavenworth.

Mocha's riding nicely and wondering where the hiway will take her next. It was uneventful through Customs. We were going to Oliver but it was early enough to get to Penticton. We have stayed at this campsite before and knew what it was like. (Thanks to Rodger and Gail). Nice overlooking Skaha Lake.

Here's our site in Vernon. Huge site that is double the size we are used to. Here Micah and Kristen came for lunch.

Here we are at Paddlewheel park with Okanagan Lake in the background.

This is a view from the park with the arrow pointing out our property.

Frieda took us to a street fair in downtown Vernon. We had cabbage rolls, perogies and sausage. The lady sitting with us was visiting from the coast, and shared her husband left for a midlife crisis. Carol asked if she could pray for her and she said she would like that very much.

Speaking of sausage, this fry pan is going every weekend in front of this meat market. Vernon must be the sausage capitol as they have more sausage shops than Starbucks.

Jonah had his second birthday. (and party)

I gave him a ride on the Segway. Zada did not want one.

Leavenworth

We are still in Leavenworth. The campsite is about 20 miles north in a town called Plain. We are here till Monday when we will head to Oliver BC. Hopefully it will be warmer there as it is rainy and windy here.

Friday we went to town (Leavenworth). Instead of where's Waldo, this picture is where is Nana. A few nights ago we ate at the restaurant where Carol is sitting. We had schnitzels for dinner.

Here's Carol with a well behaved dog. But he still didn't listen. The music was the best I heard in a long time.

For lunch we had bratwurst with sourkraut and dark ale to drink. The cow wanted some. At least in this town the women left Carol alone.

Hiway or Bi-way

On Friday we were getting ready to leave for Saturday, we spent a last time at the lake. I backed up the truck and we sat on the tail gate. A pelican was on the other side of the lake. Carol spotted him with her binoculars. We jokingly told him to come to this side, and it was almost as if he heard us and came swiming over to our side, right past us, and stayed on the shore beside us. A perfect ending to the week before leaving.

Now for the story of the heading. We stopped for lunch at this little antique town of Paisley. I went to the bathroom and Carol sat at the diner counter and ordered our lunch for take out. I noticed two women sitting together there also, and had doubts in my head. I went back to the truck and waited with the dog, as the truck was parked half blocking the driveway. Another woman came in and sat beside Carol. They had a lovely chat, as Carol waited for the food. Carol was invited to join them at their campsite, just down the road, at a hot springs campsite. Carol came back out with our lunch and as we were going down the road, told me about the very friendly people here, and the invite. When we got to our friends in Bend, I told them about it and they confirmed my suspisions that this campsite caters to that crowd. Carol erased the address on our places to see next time. Good thing she didn't trade phone numbers.

We made it to Tom and Lorna's place Saturday afternoon and parked the rig at the road. Their daughter and son inlaw were over, as well as another couple, and we played a card game we learned at the ranch. Sunday morning we went to church with them and met all the people from the ranch, and out for lunch before we left. We refreshed Lorna on her Plautdietsch.

We came across the ghost town of Shaniko. Darrell will like this Metropolitan picture.

There were old cars all over town.

For Sunday night we made it to Maryhill Wa. It is just over the Columbia River from Oregon. The campsite was right along the river, and it was nice and sunny.

Up the hill from the campsite is a copy of Stonehenge. In the morning we crossed back into Oregon for cheaper fuel and breakfast, before heading out.

Monday we made it to Leavenworth Washington. As you can see they were waiting for us. We will be here for a week. It will take me that long to figure out the leather shorts.
Here's my first video attempt, Mocha riding nicely in the back.
